Sustainability Statement
Energy efficiency through innovation
IBL Ltd is committed to a sustainable future and to improving the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the community in general. We are dedicated to improvements that foster a sustainable future and lead to social, environmental and economical improvements in lighting products. We acknowledge the impact that our operations or products may potentially have on the environment. The objective of IBL Ltd is to minimise any impact on the environment through its manufacturing, shipping and office-based operations, and to ensure our partners have similar goals for sustainability. IBL Ltd are committed to integrating new ideas, technology, innovations and sustainability into our products.
The company will comply fully with environmental legislation and in addition, is committed to continued efforts to follow best practice. As part of the IBL Ltd commitment to maintaining the highest levels of environmental management, it is the intention that the company will work towards environmental management systems compliant with ISO 14001.
Aims of the policy:
- Promote environmental management policies and practices throughout the company.
- Understanding our stakeholders’ expectations and requirements in relation to the environment and sustainability.
- Increase awareness of environmental responsibilities among IBL staff.
- Implementing business and project controls to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- To contribute towards an ecologically sustainable society by continuing to design and develop the most effective and efficient luminaires in the market. IBL are constantly developing new technologies to reduce energy consumption to a minimum.
- Promote the expansion of the circular economy that aims to reject the linear, consumer economy in which products are used then thrown away. We aim to cut waste by ensuring that products are designed to be as long-lasting, and as easily repaired, as possible. When a lighting product comes to the end of its lifetime it can be upgraded and reused, or the materials and parts can be returned for repurposing or recycling.
- Minimise waste by reducing consumption and the development of effective waste management and recycling procedures.
- Prevent pollution and ensure that wherever practical, measures are implemented to maintain ecological balance.
- Avoid where economically possible the use of environmentally damaging substances and materials.
- Wherever possible encourage the use of recycled materials for packaging.
- Reduce the consumption of fossil fuels and adopt long-term strategies for energy efficiency into planning and development.
- Consider the effects that our operations have on the local community.
- Ensure effective and expedient incident control, investigating and reporting.
- Continuously monitor and audit IBL’s environmental policies and practice.
Product End-Of-Life
IBL lighting products are designed to have a long service life, and we would like them to last forever. It is ultimately the responsibility of the end user to dispose of our end-of-life products responsibly. If for any reason you need to ask us how best to recycle our products, please drop us a message at info@ibl.co.uk and we will happily assist.
Most parts of our products are recyclable. We recommend recycling all these components:
- Aluminium – Separate where possible from other metals before recycling.
- Plastic parts – Separate where possible and recycle in plastics.
- Electronic parts and LEDs – Separate where possible and recycle in WEEE waste.
- Lamps – All types of lamps can be disposed of at your local recycling centre.
While the Chief Executive Officer of IBL Lighting is responsible for implementing and monitoring this Policy, all employees and persons working on our behalf must share these commitments.
