ABOUT

Since 1986, IBL has worked side-by-side with designers to shape how spaces are experienced through light.

For nearly four decades we have studied, created, developed, and evolved within a world of light that is constantly changing. As the places where we work, play, and live change, our luminaires and control systems change with them—reflecting design shifts while embracing the best of emerging technology.

History

Incorporated in the UK in 1986, IBL pioneered electronic lighting control equipment. By the late 1980s, most major UK and European lighting manufacturers were using IBL control solutions. The 1990s saw the development of the first range of electronic transformers and compact fluorescent control equipment. By the end of that decade, IBL had become the largest OEM supplier of electronic lighting control equipment in the UK.

The mid-2000s marked our transition to solid-state lighting with the development of IBL’s first LED engines and LED control equipment, including innovative discrete 3, 4 and 7-chip LED engines. Through the 2010s we sustained this momentum as the LED market accelerated, becoming recognised as pioneers in LED architectural lighting. Today our portfolio spans LED engines from 1 W to 72 W high-power platforms, engineered to elevate visual comfort and performance while conforming to international standards.

LIGHTKIT JOINS THE FAMILY

In line with our commitment to expand our product portfolio and support partners worldwide, IBL acquired LIGHTKIT. Designed by professionals for professionals, LIGHTKIT brought a focused range of architectural fixtures for residential and hospitality applications. We have since integrated IBL LED technology into the LIGHTKIT range, advancing our mission to develop product families tailored to specific architectural lighting needs in international markets.

Throughout, our greatest source of innovation has been collaboration. We draw inspiration from the clients and markets we work with; the dialogue between brief, project, and product continues to shape what we design and manufacture. This is the snapshot we offer here: a history of capability, a record of dedication, and a clear enthusiasm for what is still possible as we continue our journey through the evolving world of light.
